Hurry up and wait...

(Underproofed. Thanks for the grace.)
I am on my way back to Colorado today. Back for another conference. This time a sabbatical workshop.  One of the directors we met at MTI with really encouraged my wife and I to consider this next step in our lives as a sabbatical.  A sabbatical had never crossed my mind before. I am doer and ready to start planting a church tomorrow... But, it seems for a number of reasons that God is indeed saying wait, a purposeful wait. Both my wife and I are in agreement that our next step of faith is waiting.  A sabbatical is not a holiday or vacation, but rather a time set aside to look back and look forward as to what it is that is next.  It will include times of reading, writing, ministry shadowing and resting.  It will include rejuvenation and reflection and studying and praying.  This is why I am in Colorado for the second straight week, to learn and start this sabbatical off, in the best way I can.  The Navigators have been holding these kind of workshops for 10 years now and really have a great way and plan for helping people get the most of their sabbaticals.  It feels super crazy and dangerous to put aside job hunting for a time while we still have support. But, God is indeed proving to us that He is in this...  On the day we decided to take a step of faith and take a sabbatical, we sold our house, out of the blue, with a great offer.   Just a simple little reminder to us that God is in control. If he can sell the house out of the blue, he can provide a job:)   So after 15 years of ministry, we are taking a break to prepare for the next, Lord willing, 15 years of ministry:)
